Naples, FL - Keys - Kissimmee
With cousin Ginia and Mum

Fri 11 Apr

Flew Gatwick to Miami (Virgin)
Overnight at 820 Belville Blvd, Berkshire Lakes, Naples, FL

Mum & I had stayed at Ginia's on the Thursday night, and we drove down to Gatwick on Friday morning to catch the 11:15 Virgin flight from Gatwick to Miami. We arrived in Miami about 3:30pm, and collected the Dollar car (a blue Dodge Intrepid) at 4:25. We then drove west to Naples; a drive of about 120 miles along I75 (heavy showers most of the way). We picked up the keys to the property from Kersey Quade, and settled ourselves in to the house. It was a bad night for Mum, as it was very thundery.

Sat 12 Apr

820 Belville (2nd night)

Investigated the Naples beaches, and just looked around the area. Back at the house, we just lazed in and by the pool. I cooked a dinner of steak, onions, sweet potatoes, asparagus and salad.

Sun 13 Apr

820 Belville (3rd night)

Did a bit more touring around, and found Barnes & Noble - so spent a while there! Back at the house, another lazy afternoon.

Mon 14 Apr

820 Belville (4th night)

Went shopping in the morning at the Coastland Mall, and on the way home stopped off for lunch at Michelbob's for ribs. Weather starting to get stormy, and Naples was on a tornado watch.

Tue 15 Apr

820 Belville (5th night)

Drove down to Marco Island, and spent a bit of time at the Outlet Mall on the way. At Macro we saw manatee in the water. Had lunch at the Olive Garden, and then went to Tin City. Mum saw the "animated" model of a man on a bicycle which really took her fancy.

Wed 16 Apr

820 Belville (6th night)

Took the Naples Trolley-bus tour for a couple of hours, and then had lunch at Landry's. Ginia and I had seafood, and Mum had a pecan-coated chicken. After, we each had huge Banana Foster, a sort of banana split.

Thu 17 Apr

820 Belville (7th night)

Went to Tin City, and took a boat tour down the bay.

Fri 18 Apr

Drove east to Key Largo
Overnight at Howard Johnson, Key Largo

Left the keys with Kersey Quade, and drove the along highway 41 towards Miami. Stopped of at Royal Palm Walk in the Everglades. After lunch at Denny's, drove down down to Key Largo (a total drive of about 150 miles) to stay one night at the Howard Johnson. Had a bite to eat in the Howard Johnson restaurant (not that wonderful!) and spent a little time on their tiny private beach. Mum was suffering with a very loose tooth.

Drove north to Kissimmee
Overnight at 4444 White Oak Circle, Kissimmee

Before driving north to Kissimmee we took a glass-bottomed boat ride out to the reef. Then we drove the 270 miles north to Kissimmee, where we arrived in the early evening, and picked up the keys to 4444 White Oak Circle.

4444 White Oak Circle (2nd night)

Property rep came and offered tickets to Disney. We bought rather more than we needed! Went shopping in the Disney Village.

Mon 21 Apr

4444 White Oak Circle (3rd night)

In the morning, went to the "pink mall" and then headed up to spend the afternoon at Sea World. Didn't get back until quite late.

Tue 22 Apr

4444 White Oak Circle (4th night)

A couple of hours in the Florida Mall, with a side-trip to Computer City. We had lunch at Ruby Tuesday in the Mall, but Mum was unable to eat much because of her sore mouth and tooth. Nipped back to the "pink mall" in the afternoon.

Wed 23 Apr

4444 White Oak Circle (5th night)

Had got up early to go to Disney, but storms and tornados in the area made us decide to stay at home. Did very little all day, but in the late afternoon we went to the shops. There was quite a bit of damage in our area from the storms.

Thu 24 Apr

4444 White Oak Circle (6th night)

An early start, and off to the Magic Kingdom. Left before lunch and went to Red Lobster. Then back to Magic Kingdom for parade, and watched fireworks as we were leaving.

Fri 25 Apr

4444 White Oak Circle (7th night)

A morning of pottering at the shops (mainly Wal-Mart) and then off to Epcot in the afternoon. Stayed to watch the fireworks, then late home.

Sat 26 Apr

Drove from Kissimmee to Miami
Flew Orlando to Gatwick

After handing back the keys, went to Disney shops. It poured! We went for an extended lunch at the Olive Garden, and then headed to Orlando airport to head home. We handed the car back in very good time for the 19:10 Virgin departure.

Sun 27 Apr

Arrived back at Gatwick

The flight arrived in Gatwick at about 8:15am. We drove Ginia home, and then drove back to Welwyn Garden City
