Veterans' Day (Federal holiday)

It used to be Armistace Day ("11th day of the 11th month"), a celebration of the end of World War I, and first observed as a legal holiday in 1938. However, in 1954 it became Veterans Day to honour all American war veterans.

Visa
  At one time, entry to the US from the UK required a Visa, obtained from the US Embassy in London. However, for a number of years this has not been necessary for most visitors. Instead they can take advantage of the Visa Waiver scheme has been in effect. Provided certain conditions are met, British subjects can enter the US by filling in a form without requiring a visa.
